How To Fix Tiles Giving Hallow Sound

No matter how careful was your tile installation approach, there are times when you come up hallow sounding tiles. But, there is nothing to worry about.

This blog offers pieces of advice on fixing the tiles sounding hallow –

Collect the Tools & Equipment
The first step to fix this problem is to get the right tools. The list of tools is:
  • Iron, or hand blower that blows warm air.
  • Fresh tile adhesive
  • Rolling pin
  • Plastic or blunt knife
  • Newspaper
  • Towel
Warm Up the Loose Tile
If there are multiple loose tiles, it is better to fix them one by one. Place the iron or blow hot air above the tile. If the tile is too smooth, place a newspaper between the iron and the tile surface. This will distribute the spreading of heat and it will be easier for you to pull out the tile.

Remove the Tile

Now, with the help of the knife, pull up the tile slowly without letting the glued part touch the surface of adjoining tiles.

Remove the Adhesive
Place it upside down on a newspaper sheet. Remove the old glue from the tile base.

Apply Fresh Adhesive

If required clean and dry the tile base first. Then, apply fresh adhesive on the back of the tile.

Press the Tile

And apply and press down the tile in its place. Press it slowly but hard to make sure there are no air pockets between the tile and the substrate.
